Let teens and adults develop their artistic skills with The Village Artist. We can help them improve their artistic talents in a number of mediums. No matter what the experience is, we can help them develop their skills and their artistic style with our small, intimate classes and internationally recognized art instructors. We also offer special workshops for specific artistic subjects.

our available teen and adult classes

    • Sight-drawing technique
    • Model posing / lighting
    • Portrait palette and more
  • digital character design - young artists will learn how to design an original character, focusing on idea generation, shape language, and storytelling, while also introducing them to the basics of using digital tools on their iPad with Procreate.
  • drawing and painting - Includes the following:
    • charcoal and pastel drawing - Still-life, landscape, florals and portraits (both people and animal) are subjects studied in this course. Working in charcoal will help students to understand value, composition, line quality, and other drawing concepts. Further exploration can be very exciting when adding color to the mix with soft pastels. Lessons in pastels will introduce one to color mixing, pastel application, various types of pastel and surface to work on, etc. Pastels are the perfect combination of drawing and painting.
    • oil and acrylic painting - Painting on canvas can be very exciting in either one of these mediums. Whether it's a landscape, still-life, portrait or abstract. Students will be taught various techniques while developing their own style. Color mixing, paint application, medium use, value, and composition design are some of the concepts studied.
    • watercolor painting - Wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brush, glazing, masking, splattering, and washes are some of the techniques introduced in this course. Mixed-media can be explored by combining ink, charcoal or pastel with watercolors. Students are encouraged to experiment and develop their own style through exploration of the medium.
    • fashion design - Learn how to draw the fashion figure using the correct proportions while creating your own style. Discover the importance of the fashion croquis and how fashion is represented in the figure. Students will create their own designs based on a variety of themes: seasonal wear, current and classical collections and accessories.
    • special needs classes - Customized classes are designed to give the unique artists a positive experience. Our art educators work with parents / therapists to create a special program that suits the individual's / group’s needs. They will have the opportunity to paint, sculpt, draw, craft, etc. in a nurturing and friendly environment. Process vs. product will be emphasized while exploring the different mediums. In the past 22 years, we have been fortunate to teach the highly creative and enthusiastic individuals in a private or group setting.
