A great place for a child to discover their artistic
side. Young children explore the art world in many ways
throughout this course. They will be introduced to drawing,
painting, sculpture, print making, wood projects and
collage. Watercolors, acrylic, pastel, ink, clay, and
pencil are some of the mediums students will experience. |
Fine Art Studio

This course gives students the opportunity to try different
mediums, such as pencil, colored pencil, watercolor,
pastel, charcoal, acrylic, clay and more. Young artists
come to understand the many concepts and techniques
covered in this course through teacher demonstrations.
Individual and group critiques help them to gain insight
into improving their art work as well as teach them
how to discuss art work constructively. Projects may
include still life, landscapes, animals, portraits,
abstracts, cartooning and sculpture. |

Clay Sculpture

Clay is the medium brought to life in this exciting
3-D course. From animal sculptures to mini-busts and
figures, students learn many sculpting techniques. Claystone,
plastelene and wire armatures are introduced in this
course. |
Charcoal
/ Pastel (Ages 10 – teens) Back

Students work from still life set-ups, landscape, animal
reference pictures& photos and their imaginations.
In charcoal, they learn about value studies, composition,
proportion, etc. Pastel builds on those same concepts
and introduces color exploration. Demonstrations and
critiques are an important part of this course. Students
are encouraged to explore realistic and/or abstract
styles. |

Animal / People Portraits

Drawing and painting can both be explored in this wonderful
portrait class. Learn about proportion, value, line,
texture, features, etc. Pencil, charcoal, pastel, and
acrylic may be used in this class. |
Drawing

Drawing and/or painting techniques are emphasized in
this course, with the goal being to improve the young
artist’s skills. Work in the medium of choice
(charcoal, ink, pencil, watercolor, oil, acrylic, or
pastels). Individual instruction and demonstrations
are given to help guide and nurture students with a
serious interest in the fine arts. Students work from
set-ups, photographs, reference pictures and their imaginations. |

Learn the fundamentals of drawing - composition, line
(contour line), value, texture, proportions - while
drawing challenging still life set-ups, landscapes,
portraits and animals. Pencil, charcoal, and ink are
the media covered in this course. |
Cartooning
Ages (8 – teens) Back

Student artists develop their drawing skills while exploring
the world of cartooning. Pencil, ink marker and watercolor
pencil are the mediums introduced in this course. Students
study famous cartoonist works as well as create their
own. |
